NETC Update
Another Holiday Season is fast approaching and we’re busily getting ready for next summer. I’ve planned trips to several colleges in the US and to Europe to recruit staff. Mailings will go out to about a hundred tennis coaches to recruit counselors. You’ll see ads on the internet and in tennis publications. We’ll be working very hard in the next few months to make the NETC 2001 staff the best ever!
I spent many hours in October developing the new NETC Web Site. It’s up and running now and will be updated frequently. You’ll be able to print out the Confirmation Letter and all the forms you need for camp. The Newsletter will no longer be mailed and will be available only on the Web Site. We plan to upload a Session Summary immediately after a session of camp ends. For example, within a few days of the end of Session 1 we’ll have photos, tournament results, and highlights online. We’ll do the same with the Alumni Reunion in January. I’m really excited about the possibilities and think you’ll find it a great way to keep up on what’s happening at NETC. Let me know if you have suggestions!
The Alumni Reunion will again be at Roosevelt Island Racquet Club. You’ll receive the 2001 NETC brochure and information on the Early Registration Discount in mid-December.
Have a great Holiday Season! I look forward to seeing all of you at the Alumni Reunion and at camp this summer.

NETC Alumni Reunion
This year’s reunion will again be held at the beautiful Roosevelt Island Racquet Club in New York City on Saturday, January 13 from 6-9PM. A flier with more details and travel directions will be out to you soon. This is a fun event attended annually by over 50 campers and many of our NETC staff. Don’t miss it!
Survey Results
Thanks to all of you who responded to the survey this year. As usual we got some great suggestions! The top vote getters so far are the Site of the Camp, Overall Experience, the Confirmation Packet, and Phone Information.
Staff News
Dave Arnett and Ben Gologor are working together at an internet marketing firm in Manhattan.
Roger Anglin is now working for General Electric repairing steam turbines and is living in Schenectady. He received his engineering degree from Manhattan College last spring.
Aileen Haruvi is in Law School in New York City.
Dave Span, father of Cobi and Skip, is busy with tennis doing some teaching. Dave is also a professional musician and regularly performs in the New York area.
Jeff Weinstein is back in school in Arizona and we’re hoping he’ll be with us again next summer at NETC.
Marietta Papagapitos was a counselor and a camper at NETC and is now studying at Harvard. She is considering returning to NETC next summer.
Justin and Emily Call are at Trinity-Pawling for the entire school year. Justin teaches Latin and Emily is busy taking care of Gus and Ronan. Justin did a great job last summer as our dorm supervisor. Emily did a very efficient job of handling NETC’s administrative chores.
Branislav Grujic from Yugoslavia was a member of our staff in 1998 and was unable to work at camp the last two because of visa problems. He is now teaching at the Port Washington Tennis Academy on Long Island and we’re hoping to see him next summer at NETC.
Erin Thompson is back at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania where she is a member of the women’s tennis team.
Gitte Ostermann is in Germany, but has received a scholarship to play tennis at the University of Nebraska and will return to this country in the summer or fall of 2001.
Lauren Headlam and her sister Carly, who visited NETC at the end of the summer and also worked a camp in the US, were seen walking to the Pawling train station on the Saturday after camp. They planned a trip to
DisneyWorld before returning to Australia.
Early Registration Discount
All NETC Alumni are eligible for a discount on their 2001 camp tuition. Anyone registering before February 1, 2001 will receive a $100 per session discount. More information will be sent to you in December along with the 2001 NETC Brochure and information on the Alumni Reunion.
